About Us
Mission
Objects tell stories about personalities, families, taste, culture, and moments in time. At Unknown Art NYC, we bring the care, curiosity, clarity, and integrity these stories deserve, with expert collection management and personal property appraisal services grounded in transparency, due diligence, and ethical practice — making the unknown known with confidence and credibility.
Ours is a partnership with over 20 years of combined experience working in the art worlds of New York and Toronto, specializing in fine art, furnishings, and decorative arts. Within these disciplines, we have completed extensive research, valuation, cataloguing, and hands-on collection stewardship requiring both quality and discretion, giving us a rare ability to see both the big picture and the smallest meaningful details. Our approach is defined by honesty, thoughtful analysis, and a commitment to professional standards that clients can trust.
In our practice, our mission is to honor these stories while providing USPAP- and IRS- compliant appraisals that meet legal, insurance, and financial standards. Adherence to established professional standards and active membership in recognized organizations are essential in an environment where information is widely accessible but not always reliable. Whether guiding estate planners through complex collections, supporting seasoned collectors, or helping a new generation build and better understand what they own, we meet clients where they are — with professionalism, transparency, ethical stewardship, and genuine enthusiasm.
From single works to entire estates, from initial valuations to long-term collection management, we offer thoughtful guidance with a personal touch. Because we know art and objects are not just assets — they are always so much more.
Our Team
Unknown Art NYC is led by two co-founders and principals whose combined backgrounds span museum registration, collections management, fine art logistics, personal property appraisal, provenance research, and archival stewardship.
Together, they bring scholarly research, market awareness, and hands-on collections expertise to every engagement — helping individuals and institutions responsibly preserve, document, and manage what they own.
